Super Eagles end 2020 In 35th position, fourth in Africa in FIFA ranking

Super Eagles of Nigeria ended 2020 in 35th position in the final ranking released for the year on Thursday, BSNSports.com.ng reports. According to the latest FIFA Rankings released today, the three-time African champions recorded a total of 1474 points in the outgoing year, same with the Atlas Lions of Morocco. They are ranked fourth in Africa with Senegal the best ranked team at 20th in the world. In a year ravaged by the Coronavirus Pandemic, Nigeria drew three matches and lost once. They drew 4-4 and then 0-0 with Sierra Leone in AFCON qualifiers in November after they lost 1-0 to African champions Algeria and then drew 1-1 with Tunisia in friendly matches in Austria in October. The three-time African Cup of Nations champions occupy fourth position. Also ending the year in 35th place in the world and fourth in Africa is Morocco. Tunisia are second in Africa and 26th on the globe while reigning African champions Algeria are 31st in the world and third in Africa. Belgium finished the year at number one and are followed by France, Brazil, England and Portugal in second, third, fourth and fifth respectively. The next FIFA ranking will be published on 18 February 2021.
