The Super Eagles will go into October 9 friendly against Algeria with the sole aim of ending the Desert Foxes’ 18 match -unbeaten streak, Reel Radio reports. The North Africans last defeat came almost two years ago, a 1-0 loss to the Squirrels of Benin in a 2018 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. The Desert Foxes are not just the champions of Africa; they are also on an 18-match unbeaten run Since then, the Desert Foxes have won 13 and drawn 5 matches.
Djamel Belmadi’s side recorded wins against top sides like Senegal, Nigeria, Tunisia, Mali and Colombia during the period. The game will be first time the Super Eagles and Algeria will be meeting in a friendly. It will be a repeat of the 2019 AFCON semi-final which Algeria won 2-1 courtesy of Riyad Mahrez late free kick.

Super Eagles Missing Link

Victor Osimhen, the man who has creditably stepped into Ighalo’s shoes, will be absent against the Desert Foxes. Genk’s lanky hotshot Paul Onuachu was called up to replace the Napoli sensational forward. The Franco-German tatician will also be without the services of injured Leicester City cum-midfielder Wilfred Ndidi and Galatasaray’s midfield enforcer Oghenekaro Etebo. Those are big misses, no doubt, but the German tactician can still call on the talents of England-based quartets of Fulham’s Olaoluwa Aina, Oluwasemilogo Ajayi from West Bromwich Albion, Everton’s Alex Iwobi, and Leicester’s Kelechi Iheanacho.
