Super Falcons Ends Maiden Aisha Buhari Tournament With Defeat By Omolagba Oluwayemi The maiden edition of the Aisha Buhari Tournament came to an end on Tuesday with host Nation, Nigeria Super Falcons suffering a defeat in the final game, BSNSports.com.ng reports. In the final game played between the Super Falcons of Nigeria and Banyana Banyana of South Africa at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena Onikan Lagos, South Africa beat Nigeria 4-2. Randy Waldrum made two changes to the team that started Nigeria’s 2-0 victory over Mali bringing in Regina Otu Ibiang and Uchenna Kanu Grace for Ngozi Okobi Ekeoghene and Francisca Ordega respectively, with Desiree Elise also effected two changes to the South African side which outclassed Ghana 3-0, as Makhubele Tiisetso and Melinda Kgatlana replaced Makhabane Mamello and Holweni Sibulele respectively. Michelle Alozie sent Magaia Hildah's cross into the back of the net in the 5th minute to give the Bafana Bafana an early lead. Onome Ebi’s handed the ball in the box with the referee pointing to the spot for a penalty and yellow card issued to Ebi and Motlhalo Linda converted the resulting penalty to double Banyana Banyana’s lead in the 18th minute. Salgado Gabriela scored off a goalmouth scramble a minute before the break to give South Africa a 3-0 lead going into the break. With Vivian Ikechukwu, Monday Gift, Opeyemi Sunday, and Onyebuchi Ihuoma introduction for Uchenna Kanu, Joy Bokiri, Michelle Alozie, and Rita Chikwelu respectively early in the second half, resulted into two goals for the Falcons (46', 53') both scored by Vivian Ikechukwu. With the game looking like ending in a draw as Super Falcons pushed forward for the equaliser, Makhabane Mamello restored South Africa’s two-goal lead in the 86th minute from the penalty spot after the Falcons left their defense exposed. It was a great preparatory tournament for the upcoming Africa Women Cup Of Nations Qualifiers for teams that participated. The next edition is billed for Abuja Nigeria.
