Super Falcons Eye Win Against World Champions USA By Our Reporter Nine- time African champion the Super Falcons is seeking for redemption when they face world champions USA in their final game of the Summer Series in Texas. Both sides have met on three occasions in the past with the Americans winning on all the encounters. The Americans first thumped Nigeria 5-0 in 2003 and four years later beat the Super Falcons 1-0. The last meeting between the two teams was at the 2015 World Cup, where the US again edged past the perennial African Champions 1-0. The Kick-off will be early morning Thursday in Austin, Texas. The Falcons are ranked 38th in the FIFA Ranking, while the USA are No 1 in the world. The Falcons will be buoyed by their comeback against the Portuguese which ended 3-3 after coming back from 2-0 goals down. “We kept pushing and pushing, this is something we can build on and make us better,” Super Falcons coach Randy Waldrum celebrated the Falcons fightback. “It showed we are a very good team who can fight and comeback” “We’re always in the game till the last whistle.” However, Waldrom told media after the game against Portugal that the girls need total concentration against the world best if they want to get a decent result especially in the defence.
