Super Falcons Midfielder Voted Club Player Of The Year In Sweden

Super Falcons midfielder, Halimatu Ayinde was on Sunday voted Eskilstuna United Player of the Year at Swedish Damallsvenskan club.
Ayinde, 25, played a pivotal role in the middle of the pack for her Swedish side, Eskilstuna United in the course of the just-concluded season alongside her compatriot, Ngozi Sonia Okobi-Ekeoghene. She assisted Okobi in scoring one of her four league goals for Eskilstuna United.
“This year’s player in Eskilstuna United 2020 is Halimatu Ayinde. The importance of Halimatu’s large work effort combined with a large defensive responsibility in United’s midfield cannot be underestimated. That round for round stand for the physical achievement required for this is impressive. To this comes international class football skills. This year’s player in Eskilstuna United is, therefore, Halimatu Ayinde.” Eskilstuna United stated in a post confirming Ayinde as their Player of the Year.
Eskilstuna United finished the season in the 10th position on the 12 team Swedish Damallsvenskan table with 23 points in 22 games.
Ayinde who has played for the likes of Delta Queens, Western New York Flash, and FC Minsk was part of the Nigeria national team (Super Falcons) at the
2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the winning squad at the 2014 African Women’s Championship. She also took part at the 2018 African Women Cup of Nations, AWCON, and 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.
