Super Falcons withdraw from Basque four-team Tournament

Nigeria women’s national team (Super Falcons) will no longer take part in the maiden Basque Country Women’s Cup. The four-team tournament which also feature hosts, Euskal Selekzioa, Venezuela, and Argentina in Spain is expected to hold later in April 2021. The Super Falcons pulled out of the event, holding from April 8-13 in Bilbao due to logistic reasons. Nigeria recently participated at the Turkish Women’s Cup where they won all their three games against CSKA Moscow, Uzbekistan, and Equatorial Guinea without conceding a goal. The tournament was expected to prepare the African Champions for Morrocco 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) Qualifiers after failing to qualify for Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
