By Niyi Busari
Former second vice President of Nigerian Football Federation, NFF Victor Baribote has said that the simple interpretation of Supreme Court ruling on Friday 27th April is that Amaju Pinnick-led board has been removed by the Supreme Court and cautioned Barrister Festus Keyamo to stop deceiving Nigerians BSN Sports.
Speaking on popular sports programme on Hot fm Abuja, Baribote explained further that before the case got to the Appeal court and now the Supreme Court, there was an order from the Jos High Court declaring Chris Giwa and his board should take over the affairs of the NFF and carry out their functions as elected committee member.
In an attempt to stop them from taking over the NFF office, Amaju Pinnick led board approached the Appeal Court but the court of Appeal in their own wisdom set aside the judgement.
In the Supreme Court ruling on Friday 27th April have decided that the Jos High court was right to handle the case.
"It is settled, before now there was an order from the Jos High court saying that Giwa and his board should go and take over the NFF office.
"Don't forget that the then President, Dr. Johnathan Goodluck intervened and Chris Giwa decided to discontinue the matter. After a long while when the matter was not resolved. So, they went back to approach the court to release that matter which the court graciously released and restore all those other previously made by Jos High Court.
"Felt disappointed by the High court ruling, the Amaju Pinnick led board decided to appeal the high Court judgement. But Appeal Court in their own wisdom set aside the judgement.
" In Supreme Court on Friday which is the highest court in Nigeria have decided that the Jos High Court was right in making those orders and that the court of Appeal was wrong.
"The High Court in Jos did not recognise Amaju Pinnick as the NNF president and don't have the right to approach the court." Baribote concluded.
