SWANECO Dares NUJ Over 2019 SWAN National Elections

The Sports Writers Association on Nigeria, SWAN National Election Planning Committee (SWANECO 2019) on Wednesday told National Union of Journalist (NUJ) that it lacks power to postpone or suspend SWAN election, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

BSN Sports reports that NUJ the parent body of SWAN had on Tuesday in a letter suspended the 2019 SWAN national election citing petitions submitted to the parent body by SWAN members across the country. NUJ added that the election should be placed on hold until the all contentious issues are settled amicably.

NUJ also directed SWAN to suspend the parallel Congress slated for Abuja on 7th October, 2019.

Reacting to the NUJ suspension SWANECO therefore, insisted that the national election slated for 7th October will go on as scheduled.

"We therefore urged NEC, Full Council, SEC and other members of SWAN across the country; invited guests and public to discountenance and disregard the said letter."

SWAN in the said letter warned NUJ to know its limit and should not pass its boundary.

Its our belief that the NUJ National Secretariat knows its limit in matters of affiliation; moreover, when the body in reference is known directly to the laws of the land and carrying its burden."

The purported election is said to be held at the NUJ National Secretariat.
