FCT SWANECO Rolls Out Electoral Guidelines As Election Holds June 4 By Niyi Busari The Electoral Committee of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, FCT Chapter (SWANECO) has rolled out the guidelines for the elections to usher in the new leadership of the Association, BSNSports.com.ng can report. In a deliberate move to conduct free fair, hitch free and credible election into the offices of the incoming Executive Members upon the expiration of of the tenure of the former Excos, the SWANECO hence stated in the guidelines the five obligations a member must fulfill to be eligible to be voted for or to vote in the elections. The conditions to be fulfilled according to the statement signed by Ezeocha Nzeh, SWANECO Chairman reads: "To be eligible to vote and/or be voted for in the election, members shall fulfill the following: Have a job with a recognized media organization, Produce appointment letter with a valid company Identification Card, Must have practiced Sports journalism, as well as being a member of FCT SWAN for at least a period of six (6) months, Shall be a financially up to date member of FCT SWAN, Shall possess a valid SWAN membership Identification Card. "The Members who have validated their membership, but are yet to receive their cards would be eligible for the election, but shall provide evidence of payment, the statement added. However, registration window for contestants opens on May 17 and ends 20 May, 2021. This, according to the statement is to enable colleagues who have not validated their membership to do so, so as not to be denied their constitutional rights. The Sale and Return of Election Forms opens from May 22 to 29. Meanwhile, commencement of Campaigns will be opened from May 24 to June 3. While screening of candidates and display of list of contestants comes up on May 31. Showcasing manifesto is scheduled for June 3 while election and declaration of results holds June 4.
