Three-time American Champion, Lily Zhang Ends Edem 2020 Tokyo Olympics Journey By Our Reporter After her 4-1 (8-11, 9-11, 9-11, 11-9, 4-11) victory over Csilla Dora Madarasz in her opening table tennis women’s singles match at the delayed Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Nigerian representative, Edem Offiong, 34, was knocked out of the event by three-time American Champions, Lily Zhang. Edem nets her return, consequently handing Zhang the match point. The Nigerian put in a great effort but her Tokyo 2020 journey ends after a 1-4 (13-11,2-11,2-11, 8-11,6-11) loss to 3-time American champion Lily Zhang. Nigeria’s solitary hope as far as the table tennis event is concerned now lies with Aruna Quadri who will face 36-year-old Gustavo Tsuboi of Brazil, on Tuesday, July 27, 2021.
