Take Back Your Association From Imposters, NUJ President charges SWAN By Niyi Busari The President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), comrade Christopher Isiguzo, has urged sportswriters in Nigeria to take charge of their association by chasing out imposters. Isiguzo made this call in Abuja when the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) FCT chapter paid him a visit to congratulate him on his re-election. "SWAN is for sportswriters, take back your association. You don't allow people who have no business in sports writing to hijack your association. It is sportswriters association of Nigeria, it is not wheelbarrow pushers association, it is not civil servants association of Nigeria." Comrade Isiguzo also reserved praises for Bunmi Haruna led SWAN FCT chapter. " I'm happy with what you people are doing in Abuja, just like we have in Lagos. Ensure that the people you are relating with are sports writers, because the situation when somebody seats somewhere and is calling the shots, not minding the people that are doing the job, it is an aberration and it will not be accepted. NAWOJ also registered for administrative purposes but today they are not quarrelling with NUJ" the President started. SWAN led by Bunmi Haruna, presented Isiguszo with a giant card while assuring the president of their unwavering support. "Congratulations on your outstanding victory. That you came unopposed confirms the love journalists across the country have for you. You deserve every bit of it. You have made us proud, you worked hard for it and now the result is here." SWAN is your baby, you need to help it stand again. Some persons are trying to create division within it but they will not succeed" Bunmi said. Comrade Christopher Isiguzo was re-elected overwhelmingly at the NUJ's seventh Triennial National Delegates Conference held on October 7, 2021 in Umuahia, Abia State.
