Tanzania president offers country's U17 $430,000 for AFCON preparations By Sampson Adedeji Following the qualification of the Taifa Stars for the 2019 African Cup of Nations, Tanzania president John Pombe Magufuli has offered the country U17 Serengeti boys $430,000 to aid their preparations, BSNSports.com.ng can report. The president which rewarded Taifa Stars $5000 and a plot of land believed the country football can actually grow properly if right motivations are put in place for the players. Tanzania will play host to the U17 AFCON in April with 7 other Africa countries including Nigeria taking part in the competition. If Tanzania finished in the last 4, they will automatically qualify for the upcoming FIFA U17 World cup which will be hosted by Brazil. No Tanzanian team has played in any FIFA organized tournament in the past, but they hope the U17 can make it happen soonest.
