Team Lagos Set To Win Inaugural Rising Stars U16 Basketball Championship

    By Omolagba Oluwayemi Team Lagos yesterday are topping the table in the first edition of the Rising Star U16 Basketball Championship held at the Akure Township Stadium, BSNSports.com.ng reports. The tournament, which is one of Olumide Oyedeji Foundation development program was organized to identify talents at the grassroots, had the six South Western states represented with each team playing 5 games. With 10 points, Team Lagos is topping the table winning all their five games with a total of 362 game points for and 191 against leaving them with a point difference of 171. Team Oyo whose only lost in the tournament was against Lagos, is second with 9 points. They had total of 280 games points for and 206 against while team Osun with 8 points finished third although they had a negative point difference (-39) having recorded 275 game points as against their conceded 314 points. Team Ogun was fourth while host State, Ondo finished fifth with just a point and without a win in the tournament is team Ekiti who finished bottom. The competition is organized to help present the young ones the opportunity to showcase their ding dong skills and also give them the needed exposure that will facilitate their growth in the game of basketball. It's next edition is expected to take place next year.
