Tennis Is The Biggest Winner At The Laureus Sport Awards By Uche Dozie Tennis took the shine at the Laureus Sport Award on Thursday with three Tennis stars as recipients of three prestigious awards. Football came second with two awards while, F1, snowboarding had one each, BSNSports.com.ng reports. Raphael Nadal won the Laureus Sport Award for the fourth time after he won the Sportsman world joining Usain Bolt, Novac Djokovic and Kelly Slater in an illustrious group of sportsmen to have received four Laureus World Sports Awards. The Spaniard had straight sets victory in the French Open final marking 100 wins in the tournament, a 13th title and a record equalling 20 Grand Slams. Naomi Osaka also received the Sportswoman of the Year. The Japanese won the US Open in a year she had spectacular achievements. The Lifetime Achievement Award went to another Tennis legend, Billie Jean King for her contribution in founding the WTA in 1973. Egyptian star player Mohammed Salah won the Sporting Inspiration Award after his contributions to Liverpool's title winning in the 2019/2020 season. Besides, his contribution of constructing a school, hospital and an ambulance unit in his home town, Negrab. Bayern Munich went home with the team of the team award while F1 star Lewis Hamilton took the social activism award. Olympic medalist, Max Parrot in snowboarding won the World Comeback of the year award after his win over cancer. Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs, won the breakthrough of the year award.
