The Magic Is Back With A Banger As Anambra Independent Football League Resumes

The highly awaited Season 3 of the Anambra Independent Football League (AIFL) kicks off on Friday, 28 of September 2018 with a match between Mekon United of Eziowelle against DOSAD FA of Enugwu Ukwu by 3pm at the Sports Stadium Eziowelle (Home of Mekon United). The league which is organized by a football enthusiast and Coach Fr Obinna Dike reaches another milestone.
In the season 1 of the AIFL, a total of 10 teams registered from across the state. In season 2, we withness an increase in the number from 10 to 11. Then this season also, the number of participating teams increased from 11 to 13 after only 13 teams met the requirements out of 27 teams that applied for registration. The message is simple. It's getting bigger every season.
This season will withness a total of 288 matches in a home and away format from 13 match centres across Anambra State. Two placed bottom sides will go on relegation. With Over 700 registered players from within and beyond the state, AIFL is going global. As for now, the league is still bankrolled by the organizers and members alike and it's open for sponsorship.
The dividends of this great initiative is already paying off as last *Season's Champions Udala FC of Okpuno in Awka* are already through to the Playoffs of the National League One (NLO) after topping their qualifying group at the Enugu Center. Not just that, some players that participated from last Season have already been poached by local and foreign clubs as well.
As we get ready for another sizzling season of the Anambra Independent Football League, it's only proper for well meaning Nigerians, Cooperate Organizations and Government to identify and key into this wonderful initiative aimed at producing not just the next Super Eagles players but getting boys off the streets. Fasten your seatbelts people, we are about to take off. Anambra is the place to be.
