By Niyi Busari
Former Super Eagles and Portsmouth FC defender, Sam Sodje has said that there are many coaches who are as good as Ndubuisi Egbo in Nigeria, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Ndubuisi Egbo, former Super Eagles goalkeeper led his team Klubi Futbollit Tirana to historic champions in the Albanian league in the 2019/20 season. Egbo also became the first African coach to win a Uefa champions match after FK Tirana defeated Thbilisi 2-0 in the First Round of the 2020/21 Uefa Champions League qualification.
Sodje speaking with Ahmad Emmanuel on Sports Arena of Jatto 102.7 FM heaped praises on Ndubuisi Egbo for making Nigeria proud adding that giving opportunities to other Nigerian coaches will allow them showcase their potentials the way Egbo did.
"He has done well and great. I am proud he is a Nigerian. Do you know how many Nigerian professional out there? Who dont have the chance to come and do it in Europe.
"If we don't have the opportunity to do it in Europe we should have the chance to do it in Africa, especially in Nigeria. We've got a lot of ex-internationals who have the badges and can do well but were not given the opportunity. So, until we have the have the platform to showcase what we can do. You would have seen many Egbo coming up from Nigeria if we are given the opportunity.
"I am proud of him but we have got many ex-players who have got the badges and have what it takes to perform well in Europe." He concluded.
Born in Greenwich, London, Sodje represented Nigeria at the international level. He played his debut game for the Super Eagles on 25th November, 2005 in a 3-0 friendly defeat to Romania in Bucharest.
