Tiago Ilori completes move back to Portugal to join Sporting

By Abidoye Babatunde

Nigeria eligible defender Tiago Ilori has rejoined Sporting from Reading on a four-year deal, BSNSports reports.

The Nigeria eligible defender has returned to Portugal and the club where he started his career after a two-year spell with Royals.

The move, for a reported €2.4m, ends weeks of speculation linking Ilori with a return to Portugal.

The 25-year-old played 63 games and scored one goal for Reading after being signed by Jaap Stam from Liverpool in 2017.

He formed a solid partnership with fellow centre-back Liam Moore this season but the opportunity to rejoin Sporting proved too good to turn down.

Ilori came through the ranks at Sporting and he made his professional debut with the Lisbon club in 2011.

Marcel Keizer's side currently sit in third position in the Primeira Liga.
