Tokyo Olympics: Nigeria Has No Medal Target For Now - Sunday Dare

Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Hon Sunday Dare has said that for now, Nigeria do not have medal target for Team Nigeria to the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

Dare speaking on Friday in Abuja noted that the price of a medal at the Olympics is equal to the investment made on athlete that will win the medal adding that the most populous African country will set medals target for the Team before leaving for the quadrennial Games.

The minister who has concluded plans to have athletes who have picked the Olympics tickets in nine months camping for Team Nigeria to start preparations in earnest for the Games. This according to him is to increase the chances of Nigeria winning more medals.

He is determined to surpass Nigeria's previous achievements at the Olympics.

Nigeria was not on the medals table in 2012 when London hosted the Olympics but won bronze in Rio Olympics in Brazil in 2016.

While some Nigerian athletes have booked their tickets to participate at the next year's Olympics, some are still vying for the qualification tickets.
