Top NFF Officials Describe Minister's Football Master Plan Committee As Distraction ..Say The Committee Is Filled With NFF 'Enemies' By Our Reporter While there are excitements by some stakeholders over the inauguration of a ten year football development master plan committee, some top officials in the country's football strongly believe such a committee is a mere distraction. After several postponements, the Sports Minister, Sunday Dare on Wednesday finally set up the committee with former Nigeria Football Association (NFA) Chairman, Ibrahim Galadima as the Committee Chairman. The committee comprises of astute football individuals like Segun odegbami, Sunday oliseh, Emmanuel Babayaro, Yemi Idowu, Hon. Ayo Omidiran to mention but few. It was however gathered from top official of the NFF that when FIFA boss, Gianni Infantino, visited Nigeria the last time he hinted about the plan to set up the committee which he saw as a form of Government interference in the country's football. The NFF official who preferred anonymity also added that the Committee is filled with some stakeholders who are seen as 'enemies' of the present NFF board and believed will use the committee as an avenue to fight the board . According to some of these stakeholders who dont support the setting up of this committee, what the minister should be pushing for at the moment is to rally round the NFF and make funds available to aide their bid of qualifying the country for the World cup in Qatar, rather than setting up a ten-year master plan committee. One of the stakeholders maintained that country like Ghana released about 6 million Dollars ($6m) for the Black stars World cup qualification campaign while Guinea made available about 5 million dollars to the national team for their World Cup campaign. He insisted that some of the money the NFF has received is the sum of N700 million naira it got from the ministry which was techincally money meant for outstanding debt of 2019 African Nations Cup and World Cup qualifying expenses, (bonuses and allowances). "Nigeria once set up a Presidential Task Force, PTF to ensure Nigeria qualified for the World Cup. At this time, this is what the minister suppose to be pushing for rather than a committee that might end up distracting the Football House." He stated.
