Transfer: John Obi Mikel Returns To Asia By Omolagba Oluwayemi Former Super Eagles captain, John Obi Mikel has returns to Asia three years after bidding them goodbye, BSNSports.com.ng reports. Mikel who last played for Tianjin TEDA in China, an Asian country left there to join English championship side, Middlesbrough for a year before switching gears to Turkish Super League outfit, Trabzonspor where he also played for a year. Mikel then make a return to England but this time to Stoke City where he was outstanding last season and just two weeks after extending his contract for a year with the Potters, he's moved back to China. Kuwait Sporting Club, Al Kuwait on Thursday confirmed the signing of former Nigerian international John Mikel Obi on a one-year deal from Stoke City. His signing comes as reinforcement for Al Kuwait who finished third in the Premier League last season behind Al-Qadsia and leaders Al-Arabi. He will be joining his African brothers: Morocco’s El-Mehdi Barrahma, Tunisia duo Ahmed Akaichi and Rami Bedoui, and Mali’s Abdulwahid Sissoko in the Brigadiers’ line-up. The 34-year-old who previously spent two years in Asia with Tianjin TEDA has now played for seven clubs including Chelsea where he's enjoyed his most success as a footballer.
