Official: Southampton Sign Nigerian Wonderkid From Arsenal
Premier League side Southampton have completed the signing of young Nigerian striker David Osaretin Agbontohoma.
The Saints reported on their official website on Thursday that the center forward has penned a two-year scholarship and will form part of their latest intake to the U18 squad for the 2018-2019 season.
Having made the bench against Aston Villa in the U18 Premier League in August 2017, he made his league debut against Leicester City U18s two months later, coming off the bench in the 76th minute to replace Miguel Azeez.
Another player of Nigerian descent, Roland Idowu, has also been offered a scholarship by Southampton following a successful trial.
Allnigeriasoccer.com reported in July 2017 that Idowu was included in Southampton's 18-player roster for the prestigious SuperCupNI.
A Republic of Ireland youth-teamer, the midfielder arrives Southampton from St Joseph's Boys AFC in Ireland.
Last season, Oludare Olufunwa, Jonathan Afolabi, Michael Obafemi and Nathan Tella represented Southampton's youth teams.
