TRANSFER: Super Eagles midfielder Mikel Agu wanted by 31-time Bulgarian champions

TRANSFER:

Nigerian midfielder Mikel Agu is ready to quit Portuguese club Vitoria Guimaraes and head to Bulgaria to get his career back on the right track, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Portuguese publication Guimaraes Digital claims that CSKA Sofia have opened negotiations with Vitoria and Agu’s representatives to secure the signing of the Nigerian international when the mid-season transfer window opens in January.

CSKA Sofia are hoping to close the deal in the next few weeks when the January transfer window opens for business.

The second option is for the Porto-reared defensive midfielder to sign a preliminary contract with the Reds with a view to joining the club on a free transfer next summer.

Mikel will enter the last six months of his contract in January and can begin discussing with his suitors in the next five weeks.

The 28-year-old has fallen out of favour at Vitoria Guimaraes in the new season, with no single appearance to his name after eleven rounds in the Primeira Liga.

A seven-cap Nigerian international, Agu last featured for the three-time African champions in a friendly defeat to Algeria in October 2020.

The tough-tackling midfielder’s contract with Vitoria expires next June, which could see CSKA Sofia pay only a small transfer fee to take him in January.
