Transfer Updates: Nigeria's Fire Power On Barcelona's Radar
By Omolagba Oluwayemi
Spanish giant Barcelona has identified Nigeria forward Umar Sadiq as a possible replacement for Sergio Aguero as they continue their search for a striker who can improve the performance of its avant-garde, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
With Barcelona short in attack following the long term injury to Sergio Aguero, and new manager Xavi Hernandez is reportedly not a big fan of forward Luuk de Jong, the talent and scoring ability of Umar Sadiq at Almería (seven goals and six assists in the 15 games this season) as placed him on the same table with the likes of Raheem Sterling, Dani Olmo, Edinson Cavani or Timo Werner who have also been linked with the Catalan giants.
The Nigerian forward’s quality is not in doubt, having netted 20 goals in his debut season in Spain but Barcelona may need to cough out €25 million for Sadiq, presently the most valuable player in the lower league.
A tough negotiation will it be for Barcelona who will have to do a lot to convince Almeria to part with their prized asset with the promotion-chasing Rojiblancos top of the Segunda Division.
