Nigeria came from behind to beat Benin Republic 34-29 points in the opening game of the Women’s African U18 Handball championship in Cote d’Ivoire.
The tournament of Zone 2 and 3 is taking place at the National Polytechnic Institute, Houphouët Boigny (Inphb) of Yamoussoukro.
The Beninoise team led the first half by 22-20 points but the Nigeria girls overturned the game in the second half winning by 5 points difference.
In the second match, Guinea defeated host Côte d’Ivoire by 21-15 points in front of her home fans in Yamoussoukro. The first half was not impressive as it ended 8-6 points in favor of Guniea.
The Nigeria women’s team will be going for a big win over host Côte d ‘ Ivoire in their second group game of the ongoing Africa Women’s Nations Cup on Tuesday by 4pm.
