U20 Volleyball Nations Cup: Nigeria subdue Tanzania to reach Semifinals By Dare Kuti Nigeria female volleyball team have qualified for the semi-finals of the U20 women's Africa Volleyball Championship after beating Tanzania 3-1 on Thursday. Prior to this stage, the west Africans finished as runners up in Pool A behind Cameroon in their participation at the continental championship for the first time in 15 years. To advance from the group phase, the Nigerian girls beat host, Kenya and Tanzania 3-1 respectively.  However, they stepped up their pursuit for the glory at the competition as they overcame the east Africans, with 25-22, 25-16, 18-25, 25-16 win. Reacting to the team's progress, the President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engineer Musa Nimrod applauded the girls for their determination despite the shaky start.  He said the U20 girls deserved commendations for the way they fought tooth and nail to qualify for the semi finals.  Nimrod said: “The Nigeria U20 girls deserves a lot of commendation for their impressive performance and the way they fought all the way to the end and got the important victory against Tanzania. "The Nigeria Volleyball Federation is proud of their dedication, discipline and commitment, and we believe they have what it takes to win the trophy."
