..says Nigeria learns a lot from the hosting By Niyi Busari President of Nigeria Olympic Committee Eng. Habu Gummel in his remark while speaking with www.bsnsport.com.ng has praised the Nigeria Volleyball Federation for successful hosting of the African Cup of Nations U21 Volleyball championship which he described as a great achievement for the Nigeria. The International Olympic Committee member believed that the federation, coaches and players learnt a lot from the championship and hopes they go back and re-strategise on how to move the game to the next level. Engineer Habu Gumel further stated that until when Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) and Federation International Volleyball (FIVB) calendar is out for next year's programme, then the federation will know which of the competitions to register for as financial constraints may disallow the federation from participating in all competitions. "This is a great achievement for the federation and Nigeria as a country to host the qualifiers of the African countries to the volleyball world cup. Though eight country are here but only two qualify for the world cup. " I am sure the federation, coaches, players have learnt a lot from the hosting of the competition as this will help us go back and plan ahead for other national and international competitions. "The next is to continue the good job the federation is doing. I want to assure that by next year when the calendar of the Confederation of African Volleyball and Federation International Volleyball is out, the federation will be able to choose which one to attend of the championships because the federation cannot afford to attend all tournaments likewise, the players cannot be allowed to remain idle." The tournament which serves as African world qualifiers with eight visiting countries to Nigeria. The two finalists Tunisia and Egypt eventually qualified for the volleyball world cup.
