U17 AFCON Q: Eaglets Humiliate Coted'Ivoire 5-1

Idris Adesina Nigeria's national U-17 team on Thursday beat their Ivory Coast counterparts 5-1 in their second match at the WAFU U-17 Cup of Nations in Niamey, Niger. The tournament is the qualifiers for the 2019 U-17 African Cup of Nations in Tanzania. The Golden Eaglets lost 3-2 to Burkina Faso in the first match on Monday but bounced back with the victory to put themselves at the top of the three-team Group B. Nigeria scored four goals in the first half of the match but the Ivorians fought back in the second half to reduce the deficit. However, the Eaglets scored their fifth goal from the spot in the 66th minutes. The Ivorians pulled one back late in the match from the penalty spot. Two teams from the two groups qualify for the semi-finals. Only the winners of the zonal qualifiers will advance to the tournament in Tanzania next year.
