U20 WAFU Zone B: Niger Shocks Host As Togo Vs Burkina Faso Ends In Draw

Niger Republic shocked the hosts, Benin Republic on match-day One of the U20 WAFU Zone B opener at the Stade de Gualle on Saturday, BSNSports.com.ng can report.
The group A opener saw the hosts being put in tight corner and that mekes their second group match against Togo next Tuesday a must win to stand a chance of progressing.
In the second match, Togo held Burkina Faso to a 1-1 draw. The draw means both sides must not lose their next two matches to progress to the knock out stages.
On Sunday, Nigeria versus Cote d'Ivoire will take the center stage as Ghana were put on bye. For both West African countries, their first game is very crucial and a win for either side means the winners is one leg in the knockout stages.
The match which will kick at 4pm West African time at the Stade de Gualle.
The WAFU Zone B U-20 Championship is an association football tournament that is contested between national teams of Zone B of the West African Football Union .
Seven teams were drawn in two groups of four and three. WAFU Zone B member teams are Ivory Coast, Niger, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Nigeria, Benin Republic and Togo. Togo, Benin Republic (hosts), Burkina Faso and Niger are in group A.
The 2020 WAFU B championship commences on December 5 and ends December 20th. The winners of the championship automatically qualify for the CAF U20 African Nations Cup.
