U21 Volleyball Nations Cup: Nigeria to battle for 5th position

Nigeria overwhelm Chad 3-0 (25-14, 25-23, 25-15) to book a place for the 5th position play off at the ongoing 2018 Men's U21 Africa Volleyball Nations Championship in Abuja.
Nigeria will face DR Congo on Tuesday by 1pm for the 5th position at the National Stadium Package B.
After losing to Rwanda in her last group stages match, the Nigeria boys had no choice than to win the play off in front of their fans.
Nigeria comfortable won the first set by 25-12 but almost lost the second set. The boys were leading 22-13 points during the second game but lost concentration which the Chadian capitalized on the technical errors to equalize 22-22. Luck smiled at the Nigeria team as they eventually won by 28-26 points. The third set eventually went Nigeria way 25-22.
Elsewhere, Egypt and Tunisia figured out another classic final as they captured respective wins against Rwanda and Morocco respectively in the semifinal of the 2018 Men's U21 African Nations Championship to book World Championship tickets.
Tunisia overcame Morocco 3-0 (25-12, 28-26, 25-20) in the first semifinal held at Abuja Hall to book the first ticket to the FIVB Men's U21 World Championship in 2019.
Egypt outclassed Rwanda 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-22) with the support of the fans to pick the second final berth and play against arch rivals Tunisia in the final on Wednesday.
In the play off 5 to 8 places, Congo RD surprised Cameroon 3-1 (25-14, 18-25, 25-11, 25-18). Now winners Nigeria and RDC meet for the 5th position. Meanwhile losers Chad face Cameroon for the 7th place.
