U23 AFCON: Olympic Ticket Is Our Target - Nwakali

As Nigeria's Dream Team VII continue their preparations for the upcoming U23 African Cup of Nations in Egypt, midfielder Kelechi Nwakali has reiterated the mission of the team going to Egypt.

BSN reports that the Nigeria side resumed camping exercise last Monday ahead of the 8-team tournament, with invited home based players slugging it out in training.

SD Huesca loanee, stated that if the team can't win the competition, they should at least be able to deliver the ticket to the next Olympic in Tokyo, Japan.

Speaking with www.bsnsports.com.ng the former Arsenal player said:

"I came into the camp early because I need to train with the team, I believed that other guys that are not here are playing for their clubs, he told BSN Sports.

I just pray that most of them will be released so that they can be part of this team, sand that we can achieve the aim of going to the Olympic.

"As a team I believed the motive we have now is to qualify for the Olympic if we can't win the competition in Egypt," he said.

Nigeria will open their campaign in the competition against Cote d'Ivoire before facing South Africa and Zambia later in the group.

The tournament will run from November 8th to 22nd, 2019 with first 3 teams representing Africa in Tokyo, next year.
