U23 AFCON: Osimhen Excited Over Performance, Targets 2019 AFCON Glory By Sampson Adedeji Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is delighted to have helped the Nigeria U23 team to qualify for the next round of the U23 African Nations Cup following his hattrick and assist in their 4-0 spanking of Libya. Nigeria team on Monday breezed past Libya 4-0 in the second leg of the U23 AFCON qualifier and progressed to next round 4-2 aggregates, having lost the first leg 0-2 in Tunisia. "I feel great to get the win and also to qualify for the next round of qualifier. I am happy my 3 goals and assist was enough for the team to get the win and I think I just want to build on this momentum and keep on going." Osimhen told www.bsnsports.com.ng He said he was optimistic that Nigeria will win when the goals were not coming in the first half. "Despite not scoring early, I was very optimistic because we are ready for the game and our fans also kudos to them including our coach because what he said to us before the blast of the whistle and I think it was a key for us to get this win. He was happy to be part of the U23 team particularly with his hattrick that saw the team qualified for the next round. "The head coach spoke with me and I was pleased to go down and help my teammates and my brothers also and am happy for this platform the coach gave to me because he really believed in me and am happy I was able to justify this invitation." He believed that if he keeps his present form, he will be part of the 23-man list to the 2019 African Nations Cup in Egypt. "I just want to keep my form, I will go back to my club now and keep on working and by the special Grace of God I will there." He also spoke on big European clubs jostling for his signature. Everything boils down to my mentality and the set back I had motivated me," he stated. Osimhen emerged highest goalscorer of 2015 FIFA U17 World cup with 9 goals.
