Uche Eke Becomes First Nigeria Gymnast To Pick Olympic Ticket By Uche Dozie Uche Eke of Nigeria has qualified for Tokyo after winning bronze medal all-around title at the Continental Championships in Artistic and Trampoline Gymnastics taking place in Cairo Egypt, BSNSports.com.ng reports. He becomes the first Nigerian gymnast to compete at the Tokyo Olympic games holding this year. After five attempts, Eke finished behind Egypt's duo of Omar Mohammed who came first with gold and Ziad Khater who took the silver all-around medal. Consequently, Eke took the second qualification spot as it is one per country can qualify. The gold and silver medalists were both from Egypt, so they had to skip over the second Egyptian. The 23-year-old US-based graduate who won PH gold at the African Games in 2019 just graduated with a master's degree in information at UMSI.
