Uefa Champions League: Ighalo's United Dumped To The Europa League By RB Leipzig By Omolagba Oluwayemi Not a night Manchester United faithfuls will want to remember as their team failed to qualify for the second round of Europe top competition, the UEFA Champions League. Manchester United won their first two games of the group in style and that led many including opponents into thinking they'll go far in this year's competition, but a loss to Istanbul Basaksehir in Turkey on match day 3 and another defeat at home to PSG whom they had earlier defeated during the match day 1 left them with no option than to get at least a point in Germany against RB Leipzig in final group game, the point they failed to pick. Angelino and Amado Haidara gave Leipzig two goals lead within the first 15 minute with Justin Kluivert making scoring the third in the 69th minute after a lack of communication between captain Harry Maguire and David De Gea, presented the forward with a one-on-one opportunity with the goal keeper, which he calmly tucked into the net. There was a late rally back from United, Bruno Fernandes (80) converting a penalty and Paul Pogba's header (83), but it was all too late as RB Leipzig held on to their lead. United finished the group in 3rd place despite being level on point with second place PSG and even with a better goal difference, but a better head to head record puts PSG ahead. Manchester United will now join Tottenham, Arsenal, and Leicester City as England representatives in the UEFA Europa League. Odion Ighalo was an unused substitute and should make his return to China in weeks to come.
