Uefa Champions League: Inter out of Europe as Madrid, Mönchengladbach progress, Shakhtar Donesk drop to Europa League

Inter finished bottom of Champions League Group B and also failed to get past the group stages of the Uefa Champions League for the third consecutive season while Shakhtar Donetsk claimed a Europa League spot BSNsports.com.ng reports.
Going into today's match, all four Group B teams have the chance to progress to the next round with the Nerazzurri having the easiest task of winning their game at home against Shakhtar Donesk while hoping the match between Madrid and Mönchengladbach didn't end in a draw, but the Antonio Conte lead side blew away the chance despite Madrid's victory over Mönchengladbach.
This is the third time the Italian will be facing the same scenario of win your last match at home to progress but blew away all chances in 3 consecutive Champions League tournament, and unlike the last two editions where they ended up in the Europa League, this time they are going no where as Shakhtar Donesk picked the Europa League ticket.
In the other group match, Kareem Benzema's first half brace lift Madrid to the top of Group B, despite their poor start to the campaign.
Madrid finished the group as the winner on 10 points, followed by Mönchengladbach who levelled on 8 points with Shakhtar but on a better head to head.
Inter finished bottom with 6 points.
