US Based Nigerian Female Boxer Wants Title Fight In Nigeria

U. S based Nigerian female boxer Helen Joseph has solicited the support of Nigerian government and sports administrators in making her dreams come true, BSNSports.com.ng understands.

Featuring on the the BCOS TV sports programme, SBS Show anchored by Boluwaji Ogunmola and produced by Adewale Tijani, the Rivers State born Joseph said she wanted her next fight to hold in Nigeria.

The female boxer who lives in Connecticut, lamented that she has not been enjoying the support of her country.

"My country has not helped me. I fought all my opponents in their own countries. I travelled around the world to fight my opponents. Do you think this is easy? I want my next fight to come up in Nigeria", Helen Joseph said.

Speaking on her future ambition, Joseph hinted that after retiring, she would start promoting African boxers in the U. S. and facilitate their success in boxing ring.

"Boxing Managers treat African female boxers like trash. Many of them were frustrated out of boxing and forced to get married. I want this to stop. I want to promote female boxers and make them succeed ", Helen revealed this to BCOS Sports.

30 year old Helen Joseph, who hailed from Ondo in Southwestern Nigeria, had 24 professional fights, the recent of which was a defeat to America's Mikaela Mayer on the 14th July 2020.

In her 24 professional fights, Joseph won 17, 10 of which were by knock outs.

She also drew four and lost three of her fights.

Helen Joseph is the first African female boxer to fight at the famous MGM Grand Arena, a feat she achieved on July 14th 2020.

Joseph had fought in three title fights involving the International Boxing Federation, World Boxing Federation and Global Boxing Union.
