Usoro Qualifies For NCAA Alongside Odugbesan, Olatoye, Nwanaga By Uche Dozie Nigerian throwers Isaac Odugbesan, Kelechi Nwanaga, Sade Olatoye and jumper, Ruth Usoro secured their spot at the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) to take place at Eugene, Oregon, BSNSports.com.ng reports. Isaac Odugbesan competed at the NCAA East Preliminary in Jacksonville, Florida, throwing a best of 19.79m to finish second in the men's Shot Put and qualify for the NCAA Championship final which will hold in Eugene, Oregon. Andrew Liskowitz won the event with 20.28m. Kelechi Nwanaga landed a mark of 53.33m to place fourth in the women's Javelin Throw at the NCAA East Championships in Florida, securing a spot at the NCAA Championships in Eugene. Kylee Carter was the top qualifier with 56.01m ahead of Marie-Therese Obst who recorded 54.56m. In the women's Hammer Throw at the NCAA East Championships in Florida, Sade Olatoye qualified for the NCAA Championships with a mark of 66.77m, the second best mark of the day behind Autavia Fluker who hurled a big Personal Best (PB) of 70.02m. In the Women's Long Jump event, Mercy Abire and Ruth Usoro secured their tickets to the NCAA Championships in Eugene. At the East Preliminary, Abire leapt to a Personal Best of 6.44m, while Usoro leapt to a 6.67m (+2.7m/s) to come fifth at the West Regionals. Usoro participated in her first outdoor nationals. Usoro's jump is the second-longest jump in her school history.
