Veterans Renovates basketball court, Upgrade playing facilities

As part of activities to mark it's end of the year Program, Kwara Basketball Veterans over the weekend, officially launch the renovated outdoor basketball court inside the state stadium.
In attendance at the occasion was the Commissioner for sports and youth development, Director of Sports, Chairman of the Kwara basketball Association, Members of Kwara basketball veterans and other stakeholders.
President of the body, Abdullahi Ahmed, said his led body are committed to the growth of Sports development in the state.
He stated that they decided to take on extra responsibility to assist the state government efforts to revamp all sectors of the state, which resulted to the renovation of the basketball court that can stand the test of time in serving the future generations.
While reacting to the development at the event, commissioner for sports and youth development, Joanna Kolo, commended the veterans for the initiative of renovating the outdoor court for the benefits of the community and charge other individuals and corporate bodies to cultivate the habit of improving their various communities.
“I would like to thank veterans for developing this sports facility, which indicates their firm commitments to the welfare of the community as this will allow players come out to showcase their talents". She said
Similarly, Chairman of the Kwara state Basketball Association, Dr. Joseph Adeyemo reaffirm the association efforts in developing the game from the grassroots, therefore urged the current administration support the association and the veterans to make provision for the replica of the sports complex in all the Local Government of the State.
While applauding the veterans clubs, Coach Tunde Kazeem, Director of Sports, solicited for more support for the establishment of more facilities which would go a long way in the development of abundant talents.
Of the amenities that were showcased, the highlight was the new and improved court which has Kwara basketball veterans club (KBVC) written at both ends of the court, Kwara Falcons logo inscripted at the centre, two new fibre glass (rim) and a lengthy bench was another feature to the new-look facilities.
During the occasion, a final game involving two local teams was played, an exhibition game among the veterans was also on display, followed by shooting contest, award presentation, music, fun fare and other side attractions.
