Vice Chairman FCT Handball Referee Council To Sponsor 8 Upcoming Officials On International Course By Niyi Busari Vice Chairman, FCT Handball Referee Council, Mrs Godiya Jezhi on Thursday in Abuja promised to sponsored eight upcoming referees to study French language and other referee related courses in Cameroon, BSNSports.com.ng can report. Godiya who distributed seven pairs of jerseys to seven referees at the Velodrome of the National stadium, Abuja on Thursday says she will go at any length in making sure that the younger referees are encouraged in taking their career to the next level. "I want to encourage the younger referees to continue their career because i know one of the the setback in the career is lack of equipment. Most of these young lads are interested in doing the job but because they lack equipment and materials to use during the officiating training discouraged of from from continuing. I think i need to contribute my quota to help them in their career." She told www.bsnsports.com.ng Aside this, Godiya also promised to send eight referees (four male and four female) for referee courses in Nigeria and outside the country to study French language and other relevant courses. She also looking forward to staging a handball referee championship in Abuja later this year, where the best four male and female referees selected will embark on the courses in Cameroon. Speaking on why she took such decision, she said: "The redundancy in referee training in the FCT for the past 12 years is the main reason i took it upon myself to promise to sposnsoring eight referees to Cameroon to study. Most importantly, i want the FCT handball referee will be among the best in the country." She concluded. As former handball player and the newly voted Vice Chairman, i want to change the narrative and make things easy for the upcoming referees in the capital city.
