Spartak Moscow of Russia winger, Victor Moses has received an alarming verdict over his fitness level, as the Russian Premier League club’s coach, Domenico Tedesco says the former Super Eagles’ star needs to build up his physical status very quickly.
BSNSports.com.ng reports that, while naming the lad on loan from Chelsea of England among the array of stars in the squad who fitness levels are still questionable so far into the season, Tedesco admitted that it is simply because they missed pre-season with the squad.
Indeed, Moses’ arrival at the Moscow-based club had been entwined in an off-and-on saga that first saw the move cancelled before it was approved at the last hour of the summer transfer window, and his coach has now admitted he is not satisfied with the Nigerian star’s readiness for active matches.
Having missed pre-season training with the Muscovites and even been inactive before his loan move, which was preceded by a stormy end to his short-term spell at Inter Milan of Italy, recent form seen from Moses confirmed that he is not yet in tip-top condition.
For the first time since his arrival at Spartak, Moses went the distance in a 1-1 derby draw with Dinamo Moscow, but Tedesco confessed that he is yet to see the best he wants from the winger-cum-wing-back, who has scored once and provided an assist after five matches for Spartak, who are third in the table with 29 points.
The coach went on to affirm that he plans to drill the former Crystal Palace, Wigan Athletic, Liverpool, West Ham United and Stoke City of England as well as ex-Fernebahce of Turkey star back into shape as the season progresses.
Tedesco told Sport Express: “Victor Moses is not yet at the level that I want to see him. We will need time to get the players back to the required level. This applies not only to Victor, but also to the others.
“I am satisfied with Kokorin’s performance. We did not have the opportunity to involve Sobolev. We saw the strengths of Alexander. But Kokorin, like Moses, did not pass the winter training camp, and we need to get them back in shape.”
