Victor Osimhen Fires Blank In Lille 2-1 Loss To Marseille

Super Eagles and Lille FC of France striker, Victor Osimhen club on Saturday failed to stage a comeback in their French Ligue 1 matchday 12 loss to Marseille at the Orange Velodrome Stadium, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

The in-form striker who just returned from a minor injury was introduced into the 1-2 loss game in the 65th minute to replace Loic Remy.

The nine-goal scorer, Osimhen was cautioned by the center referee Hakin Ben el Salem in the 82nd minute before Lille's Soumaoro reduced Marseille two earlier goals lead to 2-1 a minute later.

Marseille were one goal ahead in the 79th minute when Lille defender Gabriel Margalhaes mistakenly put the ball behind his own net after Morgan Sanson 47th minute second half lead.

Lille are in the 6th position with 18 points from 12 games. Victor Osimhen who has scored 9 goals and two assists for the French giants will be expected to join the Super Eagles ahead of the 2021 African Nations Cup double header qualifier against Benin Republic and Lesotho in November.
