Villarreal coach Javi Calleja has tipped former Golden Eaglets winger Samuel Chukwueze to become a future star for the La Liga outfit following his debut in the 2-2 draw of Europa League opener against Rangers on Thursday night.
The 19-year-old forward was named for the matchday squad against Scottish giants before the youngster was introduced in the 79th minute replacing Nicola Sansone.
Chukwueze moves to Estadio de la Cerámica from Diamond Academy in the summer of 2017, when a deal to Arsenal fell through and started out with the under 19s where he scored seven goals playing from the wings including a hat-trick in a 8-3
bashing of UCD Murcia but he was promoted to the senior team ahead of this season.
Calleja told Villarreal's official website “We’ll have to learn from this match. You can’t let these games pass us by. We should have gotten the three points.
“We’re using nearly all of our players and I think that’s a good thing.
“We need all of our squad. Today it was Samu’s (Samuel Chukwueze ) debut and he’s a player with a great future, but he has to carry on working hard.
Villarreal host Valencia on Sunday in the La Liga as Samu as he is fondly called in Spain will be hoping to get another game time.
