WAFU Tourney: Flying Eagles Coach Assures Nigerians Good Outing By Admin Ahead of the forthcoming WAFU U-20 Cup tournament, Nigeria’s Flying Eagles coach, Paul Aigbogun has now expressed confidence that his team will do Nigeria proud at the West Africa regional tournament. Aigbogun, who spoke to LEADERSHIP sports on the sideline of his team training session at the FIFA Goal Project, Package B of the Abuja National Stadium, said on Thursday, that the competition will serve as a preparation for their quest to excel at the next U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Tanzania “The WAFU Cup is a developmental tournament because we want to do well in every competition, we cannot lose sight from the main competition which is the Nation Cup coming up soon. So, we are working hard ahead of the games,” he said. Aigbogun however revealed that it will be difficult to have his foreign based player for the WAFU tournament. “It will be difficult to get the foreign players for the WAFU tournament because isa not in FIFA calendar. So, the clubs will not be willing to release their players as most of the leagues in Europe are ongoing at the moment. But if we have one or two of our foreign player for the tournament it will be good for team.” Fly Eagles will lock horns with their counterparts from Ghana, Niger and Benin Republic in Group B, while host Togo, Cote d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso and Senegal will be contending in Group A. The tournament is scheduled to kickoff December 6th -16th in Lome, the capital of Togo.
