By Sampson Adedeji
The coach of Nigeria's Golden Eaglets, Fatai Amoo, has explained how they tamed the Burkina Faso to secure final ticket at the ongoing U17 West Africa Football Union competition in Togo, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The five-time world champions on Friday defeated their counterparts from 1-0 in the first semifinal courtesy of 77th minute goal from Emmanuel Papo.
Amoo speaking at the post match conference said they studied Burkina Faso very well and observed that they were very strong from the flanks and also possessed good midfielders. He told his boys not to allow the Burkina Faso's U17 to use their strength to gain the bragging right.
"I want to appreciate our opponent today, Burkina Faso, before the game, I knew they really have the players to win this game but we motivated our boys that they are improving, we also told them to go there and win the game.
"I was opportuned to see one of their game against Benin Republic, we studied it very well they are very good from the flank, good crosses and good players who can head the ball very well .
"They also have good midfielders and we exactly work on them and we were able to keep them away from heading and shooting the ball at our goal," he said.
Apart from qualifying for the final of WAFU, Nigeria have also secured a place at the 2021 U17 African Cup Of Nations in Morocco.
