President of Water FC, Mr Makanjuola Nureni has said that Abuja Light Stadium the home ground of Water FC will be ready in June 2019.
The 1,000 capacity community stadium will be the second privately owned stadium in Nigeria.
Makanjuola, a FIFA licensed player manager is hopeful that these facilities will help boost grassroot soccer.
He stated that the clubs vision is to produce Nigerian players that will rank among the best in the world.
He also argued that Nigeria has the talents to win the world cup someday.
Makanjuola has invested in Sports development projects that will attract the best football clubs in the world. According to him, this will help, promote Nigerian footballers to play in the top and best European clubs.In an interview with BSN Sports Mr. Makanjuola Nureni expressed optimism that the stadium project is progressing as expected.
"Water FC Light Stadium Abuja will be ready for use in June next year." He stated "with these facilities we have moved closer towards providing the best players not only in Africa but globally."
"Soon, top European clubs will start visiting, our boys wills start playing for the best teams in Europe again."Makanjuola added.
"Aside providing facilities for Nigerian talented players aimed at taking them off the street, we also want to use the facilities to support government who is saddled with the responsibility of providing such for communities.
Government alone cannot do everything, in Europe sports is driven by the private sector."
Makanjuola Nureni also had this to say on his vision for Nigerian football "I believe that if all necessary facilities are put in place, with the level of talents scattered in every nook and cranny of Nigeria, we have the capacity and ability to produce the world best player".
Makanjuola also added that Nigeria can win the world cup if a long term well-planned developmental programme is duly followed.
Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Barrister Solomon Dalung has described the construction of Water FC Light Stadium in Dutse-Apo Abuja as a right step in right direction. He said the facilities will add value to the development of Sports in the country.
Dalung who was unavoidably absent due to his engagement at the Asaba 2018 Senior Athletics Championship, was represented by the Special adviser on Youth Affairs, Mr Abubakar Barde who expressed satisfaction at the level of the construction of the Stadium and other training facilities in the camp of the players.
Barde added that the provision of training facilities for young Nigerians is a way of securing the future of talented Nigerian youths.
"I will like to apologize on behalf of the minister of youth and sports development for his absence here today, he would have love to be here but he is in Asaba to represent the Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari (GCON)".
Barde further stated that Dalung is an advocate of this kind of sports development project, reasons why he urged the State government to redirect their security into sports development projects like this.
Speaking with www.bsnsports.com.ng during the inspection visit, the president of Water FC, Mr Makanjuola Nureni described the day as one of his happiest day on earth. Adding that he was happy that his dream of building a stadium for his private club has finally come true.
"Today is a great day for me particularly for the Minister of Youth and Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung to recognise and also promise to be part of this project. I am fulfilled by achieving one of my goal on earth by the construction of Water FC stadium."
MK as his is fondly called is optimistic that the construction of the 1,000 capacity community stadium will be completed by June 2019. The aim of the project according to him is to take young talented Nigerians youth off the streets. To develop the God-given talents in them for the benefit of themselves, their families and the nation.
"His presence and support means a lot to the construction of the 1,000 capacity community stadium. The construction is expected to be complete by June 2019. "We aim to use the facilities to take young talented Nigerian youths off the street and make them to use their God-given talents to benefit themselves and the nation." He concluded.
Makanjuola Nureni stated that he has always been very passionate about football. "I am very passionate about it. I love football so much and everything around me is football."
"I once dreamt of being a great player in my life." Mankanjuola stated. "When I eventually rated myself, I discovered that I was not a fantastic player." He went to say. "but I have a great knowledge of the game and now I intend doing something reasonable with that knowledge."
It is something in me, with my knowledge I am always delighted to groom young talents.
I believe I have what it takes to groom young talents because I have been doing this for many years.
I have the will to produce the best player in the world, exceptional players, because as you can see we don’t have exceptional players in Nigeria any more.
My mission and vision is to produce a unique player like Lionel Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar.
Above all, I love fresh players who possess technical ability and can easily understand our pattern of training." When asked the reason for this, Makanjuola Nureni said "because their fresh brain is better than older players."
