WCQ: Netherlands book World Cup spot as Wales hold Belgium

WCQ:

Netherlands booked their place in the 2021 FIFA World Cup set for Qatar in the summer following their 2-0 win over Norway on Tuesday night, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Dutch, who had coach Loius van Gaal on the sidelines on a wheelchair, left it late with Tottenham Hotspur's Steven ven Bergwijn scoring one and assisting the other goal.

In another game of the day, Turkey came from behind to beat Montenegro 2-1, and in doing so finished second in the group to reach the play-offs, only behind Holland on goal difference.

Elsewhere, Wales earned an impressive 1-1 draw at home to Belgium to secure second place and a home tie in the play-offs.

Man City's Kevin De Bruyne opened the scoring, but Kieffer Moore equalized in front of the home crowd with the draw giving them hope of making it to the World Cup.

In Group D, Finland’s 2-0 defeat at home to France, who already had the top spot sewn up, brought an end to their hopes of World Cup qualification.

Kylian Mbappe set up Karim Benzema before scoring one himself in a ten-minute second-half spell, knocking Finland down to third in the group.

Ukraine booked a place in the playoffs following their 2-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina, as Oleksandr Zinchenko got on the scoresheet.
