Director, Chief Operating Officer League Management Company, LMC, Malam Salihu Abubakar has urged all football stakeholders who are saddled with the responsibility on decisions on the commencement of the 2018/19 league season to do the needful as soon as possible, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Speaking with BSN sports on Thursday at Reno hotels, Abuja, Salihu Abubakar explained that League Management Company, LMC, have to plan and fix draws and fixtures of all domestic leagues as well as the Aiteo Cup.
According to him, CAF changed their calendar and mandated all National Associations to finish their respective leagues by May as African Nations Cup finals begin in June.
"CAF has changed their calendar and mandated all national associations to ensure that they finished their leagues by the end of May 2019.
"And from today (Thursday), we have only twenty four weekends to play CAF inter-clubs Competitions in which we have two clubs, Aiteo Cup and the league. This is really tight schedule and there are factors that we need to consider to ensure that we get a practical workable solution." He said after LMC and NPFL club owners association on Wednesday in Abuja." He said
Recall that the Nigeria National League Management after their Annual General Assembly meeting last Saturday proposed eight teams promotion from NNL to participate in the 2018/19 season.
With the proposal, twenty eight teams will participate in the 2018/19 season.
The proposal is subject to ratification of the NPFL Club Owners Association, LMC and NFF.
