NPFL: We have Enough Players to Withstand the Congested Fixtures... Abubakar Bala By Niyi Busari Former Flying Eagles assistant coach, Abubakar Bala has said that Kwara United is ready to execute the the newly released congested Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) fixtures in which each team will play 14 games in 9 weeks, BSN Sports reports. Speaking with www.bsnsports.com.ng, Abubakar who recruited sixteen players after his arrival at the club was delight that the league will resume on September 2nd said: "On our part we have prepared the boys right from the preparatory period by recruiting adequate quality players balancing each position in the field of play. "We have enough players to withstand the congested fixtures." "It happens even in the English premier league where a club plays 3 matches in a week." The fixture which was released on Wednesday 22nd August 2018 will see each team play three games in eight days which has been criticised by many football pundits in the country citing to bad roads, limited resources as some if the challenges faced by some of the clubs. Head coach of Kwara United, Bala cited prompt payment of bonuses and salaries for the players and officials of the Kwara united as the secret behind their wonderful performances in the Nigeria Professional Football League before the season went on break. Former Niger Tornadoes coach, who was appointed when the team was at the rock bottom of the league table before his appointment stated further that change in the mentality and style of play as well as love and unity in the team also contributed to their incredible performance that saw the team climb up the ladder from the 20th to 15 on the log table. The remaining 14 NPFL games is scheduled to hold from September 2nd to October 28th 2018. The reason for the congested fixtures according to a source close to the League Management Company (LMC) is to get the two teams that will represent Nigeria in the CAF competitions.
