What I Did When Former Eagles Coach Seized My Camp Allowance - Ex-international
By: Tajudeen Amodu
The President of Osun- United Football Club, Ademola Adesina has explained the reason why former Super Eagles Coach, Chief Adegboye Onigbinde seized his 2-week camp allowance while playing under him at the Super Eagles team in 80s.
Speaking during an interview session at a prestigious International Sports Platform, Sports World, where famous national and international players athletes as well as renowned sports journalists interact, the former Super Eagles utility player described the High Chief of Modakeke as a disciplinarian and no-nonsense gaffer, who instilled maximum discipline in all players in the team.
"During our times, we were so disciplined and we were always in the camp. After training, we had to go straight to the games village in Surulere to eat and sleep. No going out because there was a camp commandant who monitored every one of us. Even at Ibadan, Baba Onigbinde was always in camp with us. His policy was train, eat and sleep. That's why the coach was able to raise a talented and formidable national team during our time."
Speaking further, the Belgium based ex-international said, "Chief Onigbinde is a no-nonsense man. As a result of this, I forfeited my 2-week camp allowance and I had no choice. What I did was to continue to work harder. I love the man," concluded Chief Adesina
He however opined that one of the problems of the current national team squad is lack of discipline which is causing a major setback to the performance of the team.
