What Nigeria Eagles can do to get a win in Freetown

  By Omolagba Oluwayemi Throwing away a four goals lead against a team like Sierra Leone is a thing of serious concern but if you ask me my opinion on the game, I'll say I'm not surprised cos have seen more shocking results already since the restart of football after the lockdown. Without fans, all grounds are like a neutral venue but the understanding of the dimensions of the pitch makes one team feel at home than the other. Both the Nigerian and Sierra Leone team played for the first time on the Samuel Ogbemudia pitch and that gave the Leone Stars the much freedom they enjoyed during the game and that's the same freedom with which I expect the Nigeria Eagles to play in Freetown. Taking away the fact that Sierra Leone have been playing there before now, with the absence of fans in the stadium, the ground is like a neutral ground and the Nigeria Eagles should make use of that advantage. Unlike the way they played yesterday, Gernot Rohr should have a game plan for Freetown if not the Eagles will fall again. I'll attribute the goals scored yesterday to individual brilliance not the coach's tactics. The team played without a visible pattern yesterday and that led to their collapse when the visitors began to follow their own game plan and to prevent what happened yesterday from happening again, there should be a game plan and possibly a playing pattern. See Freetown as a neutral ground and not the home of Sierra Leone. With these Nigeria will be able to dictate the game and not play under the shadow of the Leone Stars. The fear factor before playing Nigeria has gone and with what happened yesterday, any team in Africa will have the belief that they can beat Nigeria and so Nigeria need to redeem their image not just by winning but doing it convincingly in Freetown.
