Why Aiteo Withdraws From Payment of Rohr Salary - NFF
By Niyi Busari
Aiteo group, the company that shoulders the responsibility of the payment of the Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has pulled out, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
This was revealed on Wednesday when the federation was clarifying reasons part of the Coca-Cola sponsorship money would be used as payment for Gernot Rohr salary for month of April and May, 2020.
BSN Sports has reported that the NFF has received the 2020 Coca-Cola sponsorship fund and the federation on Wednesday explained that part of the money will be used to settle the Franco-German tactician two outstanding salary.
According to the Sportinglife, Aiteo cited the precarious economic situation in the world, arising from the Coronavirus pandemic which affected their production which resulted in a reduction in its staff strength to cut down cost.
Aiteo withdrawal means that the NFF have lost the $600,000 annual sponsorship funds meant for payment of Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr who receives $50,000 per month. Although he uses part of the wages to settle his two assistant coaches as agreed by the contract he signed with Nigeria, which was renewed in May, 2020.
The spiral effect of the withdrawal of the sponsor is that the backroom staff of the Super Eagles would no longer be paid match bonuses per game which was the practice in the past. Details of the new mode of payment for these backroom staff were still sketchy when Sportinglife sought clarifications from those who should know at the Sunday Dakaro House in Abuja.
